Blue Angel

When: March 24, 2011

What:
Jacket: J. Crew
Sweater: Gap
Jeans: Levi's
Shoes: Jack Purcells via Nordstrom
Bag: Dooney & Bourke via my grandma
Belt: American Eagle

Where: The Evergreen Aviation Museum, McMinnville, Oregon

Paul and I were planning on going on a day trip to the beach this spring break. But being me, I wanted a back up plan incase the weather didn't want us at the beach, I suggested going to the aviation museum. Paul practically hyperventilated and the beach was no longer an option. But I'm totally ok with that, as much as I love the beach, I also love planes. Blue Angels are my favorite.

I wanted to wear my militaryesque jacket with aviators (ha ha, I know), but I didn't find the glasses until the next day. Guess we'll have to go back! Ha ha

Here are some photos from my day date!

Also, I was inspired by the military uniforms on display! Take a look.

Color Trends for Spring 2011

This spring I've noticed a few popular colors that many designers have utilized! Put away your Easter pastels because this season is all about bright and bold hues. The three colors that I've seen out and about are tennis green (a lime colored yellow-green, much like that of a tennis ball), bittersweet red (bright, bright red with a hint of orange), and flirty fuchsia (think hot pink, spiked with purple).

What do you think? What color will you be incorporating into your wardrobe this spring?

Bryn & Beau

Meet my sassy sister! This is Bryn and her/our dog Beau. Technically Beau is her dog, but he loves us all, so we share. Bryn is sixteen years old and Beau is one. Here Bryn is wearing a Jessica Simpson blazer from Cupcake Couture, black Vigoss jeans from Nordstrom, boots also from Nordstrom, and earrings from Anne Bocci Boutique. Bryn's style is a mixture of equestrian and rocker. She says her signature is "boots." Beau opts for the scruffy look with shaggy hair and a studded collar. They are a match made in badass heaven.

Hey, Jack Kerouac

When: March 22, 2011

What:
Jacket: J. Crew
Jeans: Levi's
Necklace: LOFT
Shoes: Sperry Topsider via Nordstrom
Bag: Dooney & Bourke via my grandmother

Where: Hospital check up and to the hair salon

Why: Here are a few of my new purchases! I've been looking for a chambray shirt for awhile and I finally found a great one at Target for $19.99. Of course, when I looked online it was on sale for $14.99, but it sure beats the similar ones for $69.50 at j. crew. Also, I got this bag from my grandma! It's perfect because my camera fits in it. Thank you, Mo! (She reads my blog. :D) I love you! And I love you for reasons more than just sharing your excellent style with me.

Also, I got my hair touched up! Russ, my hairdresser, is a pro at straightening hair, but my curls were a bit of a challenge when styling so I ended up with some crazy waves in these pictures.

Mirror in the Sky

When: March 19, 2011

What:
Dress: Target
Jacket: Gap (similar jacket)
Boots: Mossimo Target via Goodwill
Scarf: Old Navy
Tights: Forever 21
Necklaces: gifts

Where: Shooting photos with my dad at the Rose Garden in Washington Park

Why: Can it please be spring now? Tomorrow is the first official day of spring and I decided to jump the gun by wearing some floral and pastel colors. Although the roses aren't in bloom, there were some other beautiful flowers to at least make it look like spring even though the weather disagrees. I was tired of wearing jeans so I grabbed this dress, with tights, it feels like I'm in pajamas. Perfect. I love the denim jacket! It's the first one I've ever owned and this is the first time I've worn it even though I've had it since August. I just needed a little inspiration. I like the boots with this outfit, but I'm not sure if I love them. They were great considering that the area was muddy and they aren't super nice, but perhaps next time I would try a springier shoe.

Tomorrow I am shopping with my mom! I went to the mall yesterday with Paul to shop for him and do my first research run. Ha ha, I needed to scope around what I like so I don't go too insane with lust. I found a bunch of things I love at J. Crew. Hopefully I'll be bringing back some new things to show you! I think I deserve it, since all the shopping I have in Corvallis is Goodwill and TJ Maxx. That's also why I can't give you many links to the items I wear, because they're all remixed from past seasons. And we all know how quickly the fashion industry moves.

Hope you're all having a great spring break! I'm crossing my fingers for some sun.

Oh, and Beau says, "herro."

GLEE Style: Rachel Berry

I've decided to embark on my first ever post series (Finally)! We're going to take a look at the characters of one of my favorite shows: Glee. Each character has their own unique persona and a wardrobe to go along with it! Glee is a sassy mixture of high school drama, laugh out loud comedy, and motifs that touch on social issues. This show offers a little bit for everyone, and so it became a must watch for many Americans. But not to forget the most alluring part of the show: the music. My aim is to recreate a few outfits from the character's wardrobe with a wearable approach and an affordable budget. With that, I introduce my first inspiration, the Broadway diva herself: Rachel Berry.

Who is Rachel Berry?

Rachel is a "strong and driven but somewhat neurotic" female lead portrayed by actress Lea Michele. She is the self appointed student leader of the Glee club. Throughout the series Rachel is torn between her career aspirations and her affections for Finn. She is the adoptive daughter of an interracial, homosexual couple, which adds to her unique disposition. Rachel's idol is Barbara Streisand.

Rachel Berry Style Essentials

Plaid- on skirts, accessories, and the occasional cape, Rachel is a girl that loves her plaid
Pleated skirts- she opts for the preppier pleated skirt, which adds fullness to her small frame
Sweaters- she is seen in a lot of sweaters and cardigans, many with knit designs like a horse on the front or cable knit
Knee socks/tights- Rachel often adorns her legs with knee socks or tights
Loafers/flats- she is almost always in some sort of flat shoe, whether it is penny loafers or simple ballet flats
Mary janes- many of Rachel's shoes exhibit the classic school girl shoe style of mary janes (a strap over the top of the foot)
Bows- Rachel Berry loves her girly touches, especially bows and cutesy animals

Brittany: "What is this look called?"
Rachel: "Sexy schoolgirl, librarian chic."

Real Life Rachel

I was browsing some of the blogs I follow, and I came across a post from koi story that showed some everyday Rachel Berry style. Check it out here!

(PS: Sorry for the lack of text, I wanted to talk about each outfit, but I am so frustrated with the formatting of this post! Polyvore HTML just wasn't working for me. Let me know if you would prefer if there were more explanation! Or if you like it just the way it is, less talk and more pictures.)

What do you think? What character do you want to see next?
